POINTS TO REMEMBER WHEN BOOKING ANY MOBILE DISCOTHEQUE
Organising a function can be costly and an inadequately equipped disco and/or one with a poor music selection could ruin it.
Please remember - not all mobile discos are the same.
They vary enormously in size, quality, service and experience. Ensure you book a show of the appropriate quality for your event.
DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT
First you must decide exactly what you want. If a wide range of age groups will be in attendance ( at, for example, a wedding ) then a correspondingly wide range of music will be required. On the other hand if you are planning, say, a teenage event then, unless the evening will have a particular theme (such as 70’s Disco), the latest sounds will be essential - Indie, Club/Dance, House, Rap, R’n’B, Soul, straight pop - whatever your preference check that the disco you book will play the music you want. Will you be happy with a basic set-up or do you want a fully equipped roadshow with a sophisticated lightshow?
SHOP AROUND
Once you know what you want shop around, but don’t just go for the cheapest. You may think that someone quoting double is expensive, but find out what they have to offer and be sure you are comparing like with like. One might be bringing the hi-fi from the front room and the other may have a professional sound rig. One might have a couple of flashing lights while the other may have a large professional lightshow. One might be keen to provide what you want whilst another may be more interested in doing what he or she wants. No one aspect of a function is more important than another. Don’t spend a fortune on flowers and skimp on the entertainment. On the other hand don’t overdo the entertainment and cut down on the food and drink. Please remember - you get what you pay for. Even so the cost per guest for a large, professionally equipped disco, is tiny when compared with, for example, the cost per guest for a wedding breakfast or a buffet. Yet its contribution to the success of your function is just as important.
CHECK THE QUALITY OF YOUR DJ’s EQUIPMENT (!)
Quality and quantity of equipment should always be established. Poor, distorted, sound is caused by turning the volume controls up too high on amplifiers which do not have the correct capacity for the size of audience. A good guide to getting the right sound system for your function is to consider the audio requirements of an event catering for around 200 people. A capacity of at least 800 watts r.m.s. would be adequate. It is better to have power in reserve and not use it than to overtax inadequate equipment. Always ask about the power rating of your DJ’s sound system. A good lightshow is essential for creating atmosphere along with fog and/or haze machines to add to the effect, hould the venue allow. A mark of a really good mobile discotheque, apart from using professional equipment throughout, is a comprehensive, controllable lightshow. Always ask about that. Some discos will supply an equipment list if you ask so why not do that too? Ask for references from previous clients and check them out.
CHECK ON THE DISCO & DJ LIABILITY INSURANCE
Make sure that the disco you book has adequate Public Liability Insurance. Musicmix has a professionally arranged Public Liability policy arranged by a Leading Entertainment Insurance.

However, before each function, we consult all clients to find out if there is any music they particularly want and ensure we have it available on the night
